Here's how I learned I had the skills necessary that enable me to tell my clients that "I can help you build your dream"
Background on how to build your dream.
I’ve been traveling quite a bit lately, which is why my blog was on hiatus. Right now, I am in Concord, Massachusetts getting ready to participate in a retreat with my mentor, Mary Morrissey. She is leading this retreat to share the rich history of the Concord Conversations in the place where “democracy, American style, began. It was here that “the shot heard round the world” occurred. It was here that a small group of inquisitive, deep thinkers discovered access to an inner Greatness available to all, but frankly, found by very few. These few folks, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Bronson Alcott, Margaret Fuller and others, revealed ways of thinking and being that would open the door to Soul and Self.
They found access and power in what became known as Transcendentalism. Through finding the means and method for accessing the Transcendent SELF, they opened the door to a whole new way of living and freedom. This “New Thinking” paved the way for Modern Psychology, New Thought Theology, Modern Physics and the Human Potential Movement. There is a science behind the greatness that evolved from this tiny plot of ground”.
On my drive here from North Carolina, I stopped at a rest stop in New Jersey. While exiting the building, I noticed a sign that read, “Have you taken a chance on your dream lately?” It was an ad for the NJ Lottery. It struck me that this is the way many of us view our dreams – for our careers, our health, our relationships and our financial freedom. We leave them to chance. As integral and important as our dreams are, they should never be left to chance. Yet we do, convinced that they will never come true, it will take too much effort or it is simply too late for us to have dreams let alone realize them.
This is a perfect time for me to write this blog because I have recently become one of Mary Morrissey’s certified Dream Builder coaches. Through this program, I realized that there is a way to design your dreams, and that it is never too late to have dreams, and make them real. I learned that I could now tell clients that I can help you build your dream. Through Mary’s proven program, we can ask ourselves the most significant question, “If money, time, age, et cetera were not an issue, what would we LOVE”? Once we’ve designed our dream in those four key life areas, we can follow a system to actually achieve our dreams.
So, once you’ve answered that first question for yourself (give yourself the gift of time to ponder this questions seriously and revisit your childhood to let your imagination run wild), make it as specific as you can, keep it visible, and repeat it to yourself daily. Thinking consistently from your vision (and NOT from your circumstances), take a step each day – however small – that will lead you to the achievement of your dreams. Your dreams are what make you, you! And you are too important to leave those dreams to chance.
